UN Secretary-General warns Earth faces climate catastrophe

26 september 2024

Speaking at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Secretary-General of the organization Antonio Guterres said that the world is on the verge of a climate catastrophe.

According to Guterres, droughts, wildfires occur in different parts of the world, and temperatures reach extreme levels. All this and much more is explained by the climate change.

"These are not natural disasters, these are man-made disasters that occur more and more often due to the use of fossil fuels. And this problem has not spared any country," the UN Secretary General stressed.

He also stated that the global problem can only be fought together and all countries need to join forces to tackle it.
