The volume of carbon dioxide emissions in Moscow has decreased by more than a quarter over the past 20 years, the press service of the Moscow Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection reported.
Speaking at the BRICS Green Cities forum in Moscow, the head of the department Yulia Vinodaeva said that Moscow authorities pay great attention to environmental education issues and the concept of the city as a common home is close to most residents of the capital. In addition, business in Moscow is becoming more responsible and sensitive to the environmental agenda.
Among the most pressing issues of the "green" economy of cities, the forum participants named the improvement of energy efficiency and the introduction of renewable energy sources, control over industrial production and waste disposal, the development of safe, environmentally friendly urban transport, the use of effective digital platforms and the active introduction of AI technologies.
