The world's first full-time environmental Olympiad has started in the federal territory of Sirius in Sochi. 30 schoolchildren from seven countries gathered at the site. These are representatives of Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Seychelles and Abkhazia.
The participants answer questions about the conservation and restoration of biodiversity, and to solve practical problems they will visit the ecological routes of the Caucasian Reserve.
"Students' knowledge will be evaluated in team and individual tests. The winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad will receive not only medals and diplomas, but also unique opportunities for further education and development in the field of ecology and climatology. The tasks of the Olympiad are presented in two languages – Russian and English," the press service of the Sirius Educational Center reported.
Russia is represented at the Olympiad by schoolchildren from Moscow and the Novosibirsk region. The event is held within the framework of the BRICS Scientific and Educational Congress on Ecology and climate change, which is taking place in Sochi.
The Environmental Olympiad will last until October 24, according to nia.eco.
