03 february 2025

A winter school that opened at the Northern Arctic Federal University (NArFU) will offer young scientists to study pollutants in Arctic snow, identify microplastics in bottom sediments, and get acquainted with flora and fauna of the Arctic.

"Over the course of three days, our guys, students, and postgraduates from 10 cities in Russia, a total of 36 people, will get acquainted with the most important issues that flora and fauna of the Arctic and subarctic regions faces," TASS quotes the head of the expedition of the Arctic Floating University (AFU) of NArFU Alexander Saburov as saying.

The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia as part of the Decade of Science and Technology of the Russian Federation. It is planned that this school will help identify the most interested students ready to participate in Arctic expeditions.
