Vertical floating solar power plant launched in Germany

31 october 2025
An unusual solar power plant - the world's first vertical floating system with a capacity of 1.8 MW has been commissioned on a quarry lake in Bavaria.
The vertical orientation of the panels not only saves space, but also makes the installation storm-resistant.
The secret of the design, developed by the German company Sinn Power, is in the flexible cable attachment: the panels do not break in the wind, but bend slightly, reducing resistance and damping the waves.
The station occupies only 4.65% of the lake area, which is three times less than the legal limit.
Engineers also note environmental advantages: the design does not interfere with water circulation and light penetration, promotes oxygen saturation, and fish and waterfowl have already settled under the platforms, ecosphere.press reports.
