Nearly 890 million people living in extreme poverty face natural hazards in their communities, according to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
"Of the 1.1 billion people living in poverty, 887 million live in regions exposed to at least one of four climate hazards: heat, drought, floods, and air pollution," the UNDP report states.
South Asia is the most vulnerable region in the world, where 99.1% of people face some form of climate hazard, followed by Africa.
