Deputy prime minister of Russia and presidential plenipotentiary envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev visited Norilsk on a working visit and assessed the progress of the city's large-scale renovation program.
He stated that the projects in Norilsk that should be implemented have been launched and are underway. These include new housing, social facilities, kindergartens, a school, and a clinic.
Following the meeting, the official thanked Norilsk Nickel management, as the company had allocated a significant portion of the master plan's funding.
"This is justified, because the majority of Norilsk residents work at the company's facilities," Trutnev explained.
He also reviewed the Sulphur Program. The benchmarks for the federal "Clean Air" project have been exceeded thanks to its launch. A key achievement was confirmed by government agencies: sulfur dioxide capture efficiency exceeded 99%.
For his part, Nikolai Utkin, first vice president and head of government relations at Norilsk Nickel, noted that the company is actively participating in developing the city both economically and socially, while also improving the environmental situation.
"For many years, we have been implementing a wide range of projects in the region to continuously improve the cultural, educational, sports, and other aspects of Norilsk. A key focus on this is the development and renewal of the urban environment," he stated.
The comprehensive development plan for Norilsk is being implemented jointly by Norilsk Nickel, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, the Krasnoyarsk Territory government, and the city administration. The total investment is 120 billion rubles, of which 81.3 billion rubles comes from Norilsk Nickel.
