Rostekhnadzor approved the first phase of the Chernogorsk Mining and Processing Plant

22 june 2026
The Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Supervision has approved the first stage of the Chernogorsk Mining and Processing Plant. The management company Chernogorsk GRK, part of the Alliance Group/Russian Platinum, expects to ship in November 2026 to its partners for further processing the first concentrate from the Chernogorsk deposit in Krasnoyarsk region.
The first phase of the mining and processing complex is designed for 7 million tons of ore per year and will produce 214,700 tons of nickel concentrate and 63,000 tons of copper concentrate annually.
131 million tons of ore containing nickel, copper, cobalt, and 4E (palladium, platinum, rhodium, and gold) have been accepted for processing.
After the commissioning of the second phase, the design capacity will reach 14 million tons, and the potential for platinum group metal production will reach 55 tons annually. The combined development period for the two phases of the project exceeds 50 years. Capital expenditures for the project are estimated at 500 billion rubles. The second phase may require a similar amount.
The Chernogorsk Mining and Processing Plant is expected to become the second center for palladium and platinum mining in Russia. The Chernogorsk deposit's accepted reserves amount to 131 million tons of ore containing palladium, platinum, rhodium, and gold.
