Rostechnadzor inspects new ALROSA facility, finds no safety violations

26 august 2026

Russia’s Federal service for environmental, technological and nuclear supervision (Rostechnadzor) conducted a final inspection of the capital construction project at the International diamond mine, which is one of ALROSA’s main operating assets.

"No violations were identified. A conclusion was issued stating that the project complies with the requirements of the design documentation," Rostechnadzor said in a statement.

ALROSA has completed the construction of the third phase of the underground drainage complex at the -145 m horizon. The commissioning of the facility will ensure the diversion of water from the Metegero Ichersky aquifer complex and prevent it from entering the ore mining zones.

The International mine, launched in 1999, is located 16 km southwest of the city of Mirny in the Yakutia Republic. Until 2011, production was carried out using the open pit method; thereafter, the project switched to underground mining.
