One more market attracting permanent attention is Indian one.
According to mass-media, Indian companies are making their best for the promotion of their brands on the international market.
Among the basic incentives for this is the rise of the rupee against the dollar. One more problem is the final termination by the United States of the Generalized System of Preferences from June 30, 2008. The combination of these factors leads to rise in price of the Indian jewels and to the loss of their competitiveness in the American market.
No doubt, that the cancellation of GSP together with the increase of the rupee will complicate the achievement by the Indian jewellery industry of the planned export growth of 2-3%.
With the intent of decreasing the price of the Indian jewellery, some exporters have already started introducing changes to their products, i.e. through reducing of the gold content and of the weight of the brilliants.
In the same time Indian jewellers are in search of other markets, such as in Japan, Russia and the Western Asia.
Rajesh Exports Limited has presented nine brands of jewellery with brilliants which it intends to distribute in the international market through the franchising system.
REL has already provided itself with the order for products from M/s Excel Goldsmiths from Emirates which has expressed interest in purchase of prods of six brands: Eternal, Solitaire, I-teen, Ghazal, Aishwarya and Sushmita.

Also recently the company has opened the first shop of the network of jewellery shops under the mark Shubh Jewellers, having invested 88 million US dollars in the project aimed to open by April 2008 in Southern India some 100 shops.
The Indian Goldiam International, the manufacturer and exporter of brilliants and jewels, has officially declared that it finished preparations for the exit into the Russian market through its affiliated company Diagold Designs Ltd.
Planned operations in the Russian market will include the trade in jewels with diamonds made at factories of the company in India and China. The start of the project is planned for February 2008. According to the company, the expected income from the sales of the joint venture will make in the 2009 financial year about $10 million.

Manufacturing of the products and their marketing will be provided by Rosy Blue, and the trading experience of the Indian company will help with realization of the goods.
One of the items of this jewellery line - a necklace made from 2501 diamonds in a setting from white gold (36 thousand dollars) - has recently helped Rosy Blue to win the De Beers Group marketing award 2007 for the best new sample of jewellery design.

According to Pranava Bargava, the head of the marketing divisions of the company, the strategy of the further growth consists in increasing of capitalization due to high profit rate in India, China and the Western Asia where operational charges are still rather insignificant.
The Gitanjali Group has got a full control over the jewellery brand Nakshatra, with which the Diamond Trading Company (DTC) for the first time entered the Indian market of jewellery with brilliants in 2000. Before this moment the Gitanjali company owned this brand in partnership with Dimexon and Mahendra Brothers.
In 2005 when DTC transferred its jewellery brands to siteholders, Gitanjali acquired 33% of shares of the Brightest Circle company, which received from DTC the license for manufacture and distribution of the products of the Nakshatra brand.
In the last years Gitanjali has already invested in 1 billion rupees (25.47 million US dollars) in this brand, and within some next years it plans to invest one more billion rupees in its development.
