As was reported earlier, more than fourty jewelry designers lost their opportunity to show new jewelry trends at the Golden Globe ceremony due to the strike of scriptwriters. After the strike was ended, they had a chance to make up leeway in the course of the Oscar ceremony broadcasting.
As IDEXOnline noted, Nicole Kidman, who appeared on the red carpet wearing a necklace of rough and polished diamonds, demonstrated that large-size jewelry was again in fashion.
Double diamond necklaces for “an occasion,” as a rule in combination with various diamond drop earrings, were a widespread jewelry pattern at the Oscar party.  Diamond bracelets and cufflinks were also conspicuous by their size. Among the companies, which offered their jewelry to the stars (the jewelry mentioned by the press), the leading trio was composed of Chopard and Fred Leighton (6 jewelry pieces each), and Kwiat – 5 pieces.
Thus, Chopard indicated that they count on stars.  One may also up their account because Chopard jewelry was sparkling that evening on both previous winner Helen Mirren and Marion Cotillard, who was yet to receive the statuette.
On the other hand, Damiani that evening was mentioned with regard to its only jewelry piece, but it should be taken into account that it was flashed by future Oscar winner Tilda Swinton. At the time the Oscar ceremony was on the air, Damiani’s store in Milan was robbed, and although the company suffered significant financial damage, it was evident that no robbers would have dug a tunnel for the sake of poorly made jewelry.

At the JA New York Winter Show, everything rang spring bells, NationalJeweler reported. Whimsical jewelry designs were one of the major features at the show, along with nature-inspired pieces and romantic themes.
From leaf motifs to butterflies and serpents, designs capturing flora and fauna popped up at a plethora in designers’ pieces. Flower-themed jewelry bloomed throughout the show too.
Romantic symbols, such as hearts, stars and wings, were also in full force.
Gold designs at the exhibition showed a lot of openwork to offer sufficiently low prices, while oxidized silver, a more budget-efficient metal, proved its move into the mainstream.
Other top trends included swirly circle earrings, cocktail rings, big hoops, gemstone clusters and bold, eccentric necklaces.

At the recent closed show in luxury capital Milan organized by the Vicenza Fair (on March 2-4), visitors were treated to the best of the worldwide jewelry industry.
According to NationalJeweler, 60 Italian and 20 international brands showed their products to 150 buyers and representatives from 350 jewelry stores.
Designers on display included Aaron Basha, Calgaro, Garavelli, Gurhan, Hearts On Fire, Marco Bicego, Mikimoto, Nanis, Orlando Orlandini, Picchiotti and Roberto Coin. Flora and fauna motifs were recurrent among the fashionable gamut of designs.
Turkish born U.S. jeweler Gurhan Orhan not only captured the attention at the show, but also was honored a separate article in the authoritative “International Herald Tribune.”
According to IHT, Gurhan Orhan was using ancient tools of his own make to work on jewelry pieces of pure 24-carat gold.
Being inspired by old-time jewelry, Orhan set up four jewelry lines. Recently he launched a silver jewelry line.

Rings, bracelets and necklaces made by jewelry brand Agas & Tamar may be seen in “Sex and the City: The Movie,” the “New York Sun” reported.
The 500-square-foot store of Agas & Tamar in NoLIta (North of Little Italy) in Manhattan is the first outpost of the brand in America. Entrepreneur Eli Halili persuaded Middle East designers Einat Agasi and Tamar Harel-Klein to adapt their jewelry collection styled to resemble ancient coins for an American market adding more diamonds, more strands, and longer earrings.
The brand has good connections in New York. Donna Karan sells their jewelry at her Urban Zen store, and Patricia Field, who is costume designer for the above-mentioned movie coming out this spring, used the jewelry to bedeck the movie female stars.

Justin Giunta’s Subversive jewelry line is still lingering in the ads. His collection styled to fashionable artefact jewelry includes bracelets, earrings and necklaces made from parts of ancient adornments.
