The Moscovski Komsomolets daily reminds of a relatively new trend in the jewelry fashion – combinations of precious metals and gems with wood. The union of wood with expensive noble stones and gold has so far been viewed upon as a “jewelry misalliance,” but nowadays designers are inspired to break all the proprieties and easily “reconcile irreconcilable.” Eventually, this gives birth to perfectly untrite adornments much plaudited by high life society. As an example, the newspaper points to the new collection designed by French jewelry house ADLER and charactonymed as “Wood.” The adornments in this collection are made in the spirit of the latest fashion breeze – wood plus 18-carat gold and diamonds. The jewelry pieces correlate metal and wood, warmth and cold, brown and white diamonds, yellow citrine and white gold.

British designer Giles Deacon has evidently decided to embrace the maximum possible number of fashion trends. It is reported that he announced a signature line of jewelry coming out soon. Giles has hooked up a cooperation contract with Evoke and is to make a collection of necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings using Swarovski crystals.
There will be three ranges in the collection sloganned “Giles Deacon for Evoke”. The first will be based on the play of optical black and white. The second will be inspired by the solar planet system: small stellar constellations will cluster in rings, necklaces and earrings. The third range will amuse you with skulls, hearts and other playful figures that give an edgy feel. It is mainly designed for youth.

The Kommersant-Weekend supplement is traditional in offering the greatest number of articles about novelties in jewelry design and new collections. In the current reporting period this edition issued materials highlighting the collections taken to Moscow by Aurora Lopez Meija, Kwiat, Palmiero, Stephen Webster, and Montblanc as well as the 10th anniversary of the Miss Protocol Piaget watch.
Dni.ru, a Web daily, having analyzed the current collections of some well-known jewelry houses (Chopard, Bvlgari, Van Cleef&Arpels and Cartier), came to the conclusion that they have one point in common broadly using sapphires: “May it be just the summer season? It is high time to leave icy diamonds to winter. And now it’s quite proper to get embellished with colorful sapphires so attractive on one’s tanned skin!”
