CTF Group retail sales growth dips in Q4 ending March 2022

China’s biggest jeweller, Chow Tai Fook (CTF) has reported a dip in retail sales due to a rise in Covid across the country, as per media reports. Chow Tai Fook reported that retail sales value in its 6000 outlets in China grew by 8.5 per cent in the quarter ending 31 March 2022 as against 31.1 per cent in the 3 months ending 13 December 2021.

India’s gold imports, which have a bearing on the country’s current account deficit (CAD), rose by 33.34 per cent to $46.14 bn during 2021-22 fiscal on account of higher demand, as indicated by official data. Gold imports were worth $34.62 bn in the fiscal year 2020-21.

India’s jewellery exports to UAE will increase to $10bn annually

Under the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), import duties on jewellery exported to the UAE from India will be slashed to zero from 5 per cent. India’s jewellery exports to the United Arab Emirates are poised to reach $10 bn annually with the removal of import duties as stipulated in a new bilateral deal.
