Second-Tier Companies in Global Diamond Mining - Petra Diamonds

30 december 2013

Petra Diamonds Limited was founded by Adonis Pouroulis in 1997 and its shares were listed at the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) with the market capitalization of about £10 million. In recent years, Petra Diamonds, a junior diamond mining company, has shown sky-rocketing production rates and diamond mining output (Fig. 1, 2).  Taking into account the diamond resources at the deposits purchased by the company (Fig. 1) that made 42.3 million carats in 2012, including 23.9 million carats of reserves, the expected diamond output of 5 million carats by 2019 is a realistic one, which is $717 million expressed on the basis of the current prices.
