New Year, New Marketing Tactics in 2019
09 january 2019
(idexonline.com) - I have been looking this week at predicted marketing trends, and while there are very many forecasts – especially as we head into the new year – I have tried to boil them down to some main ones. It seems that buyers – especially younger buyers such as the much pursued Millennial demographic – are big on video and the so-called authentic marketing voice. Buyers are increasingly seeking authenticity when online and video is seen as a mean of making a real connection with the audience.
Parent of Kay Jewelers Has Work Left to Make Bling Sing
04 january 2019
(bloomberg.com) - December brings many seasonal rituals: Swilling eggnog, bopping to “Jingle Bell Rock” and, of course, seeing a gazillion Kay Jewelers ads on TV. The chain is always out in force at this time of year, and for good reason: Jewelry stores, in general, generate a greater share of their annual sales during the holiday rush than many other retail segments. Jewelry stores get a greater share of their sales during the November and December rush than most other types of retailers. In early December, investors learned that Kay’s corporate parent, Signet Jewelers Ltd., entered this important season in a bit better shape than analysts had expected. The company, which also includes the Zales and Jared jewelry chains, bumped up its full-year same-store sales guidance after it delivered a 1.6 percent increase in quarterly comparable sales over a year earlier, its second consecutive period of growth on this measure. Still, don’t count on shoppers giving the company the gift of a turnaround this holiday season.
Those Warranties on Diamond Invoices Are Changing
29 december 2018
(jckonline.com) - (jckonline.com) - Ever since 2003, after the Kimberley Process (KP) went live, World Diamond Council (WDC) has required that all natural diamonds have the following wording stamped on their invoice: The diamonds herein invoiced have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict and in compliance with United Nations resolutions. The seller hereby guarantees that these diamonds are conflict free, based on personal knowledge and/or written guarantees provided by the supplier of these diamonds. The World Diamond Council recently adopted new language for the invoices, which it will ask everyone in the diamond industry to use starting next year: The diamonds herein invoiced have been purchased [or sourced] from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict, in compliance with United Nations Resolutions and corresponding national laws. [If they wish, companies can list the countries from which they are sourced.] The seller hereby guarantees that these diamonds are conflict free and confirms adherence to the WDC SoW Guidelines. WDC president Stephane Fischler says the group had long wanted to strengthen the system of warranties (SoW), the voluntary system that backs up the Kimberley Process.
How to Best Use a Credit Card to Buy an Engagement Ring
28 december 2018
(lendedu.com) - If you are one of the many people in the U.S. planning to pop the big question this year, you might be wondering how you are going to pay for the engagement ring. According to The Knot, a wedding website, the average amount of money spent on an engagement ring is close to $6,000. You may not spend that much, but even if it is somewhere between $2,000 and $4,000, it will still be a major purchase. If you’re like most people who don’t have that kind of cash lying around, you will probably use a credit card. While that is not ideal, you can make it work to your advantage if you use the right credit card and the right strategy. Short of that, you could end up paying much more for the engagement ring than you wanted.
Mercury Polished Diamond Price Index: Only Smaller Sizes Improve
27 december 2018
(ehudlaniado.com) - Prices of smaller goods recovered in November, responding to rising demand. Larger goods, however, suffered from further price declines. The Mercury Diamond Global Tracker™ (MDGT™) averaged 110.1 in November 2018, down 1.30% from October. Polished diamond price increases are a typical cyclical trend in November, as holiday season purchases drive demand. November is historically a period of rising demand for polished diamonds by retailers during the November-December holiday season. In the past few years, demand by jewelry manufacturers peaked in September, followed by a minor slide in October and a rise in November. The question is what goods are in demand, and therefore rising, as opposed to those items that are in lesser demand.
